About Me
Sam Stoddart - 5’6” 135 Lbs (Class of 2026, Libero/DS)
I am a dedicated and hardworking Libero/DS from the Class of 2026. Over the past three years, I have developed my skills through club, school and provincial team volleyball, playing in various positions, striving to be a reliable and dynamic player on the court.
Before volleyball, I spent 11 years as a competitive gymnast and represented Team New Brunswick at the 2022 Atlantic Championships. The strength, balance, discipline, and body awareness I gained through gymnastics continue to give me an edge on the court. I discovered volleyball in 8th grade and quickly developed a passion for the sport, joining my first club team in Grade 9. In 2023, I stepped away from gymnastics to fully commit to volleyball.
In summer 2024, I represented Team New Brunswick as an underaged Libero (U16) at the U17 Canada Cup, competing against top athletes nationwide. During the school season, I’ve been a starting Outside Hitter/Libero for the Rothesay High School Varsity team in Grades 10 and 11, known for my positive attitude, strong defense, smart offense, and leadership.
At the club level, I played for the Timberwolves U15, U16, and U17 teams. In the 2024 provincial tournament, I helped lead my team to an undefeated Tier 1 gold medal win as the sole Libero — a first for the Timberwolves club. I was honoured to receive the Coach’s Choice Award for my leadership and commitment.
I am eager to continue developing as a player and am looking for a post-secondary program where I can contribute my defensive skills, court awareness, and competitive mindset. I am always looking for ways to grow, push my limits, and support my teammates in a high-performance environment.

I have had the privilege of observing and coaching Sam for the last 2 years. She is a great teammate who contributes an enormous amount of energy on the court. She was selected to my 17u Canada Cup provincial team as an under age (16u) Libero. She was a stable and strong presence on the court for our team at Canada Cup. Although slightly undersized, she plays the game much ‘bigger’ on the court. With her club and school teams, Sam plays as an outside hitter. She has a great ability for cue reading and early movement on serve receive and defence. What makes her stand out most is her positive and encouraging presence with her teammates both in training and at game time. Sam never cuts corners in training and always does the little things in drills- beyond what’s being asked of the team. Her skills, attitude, effort, and work ethic would make her a welcome addition to a post secondary program.

A week into Sam’s grade 10 season, and I wondered why I cut her in grade 9. We had a better team, but within a week and our first tournament it was clear she was a starter in the left side (outside hitter). Very athletic and mentally tough she had a fantastic season. She is a “sponge” from a coaching perspective and a great teammate. The summer after grade 10 she moved to Libero with the Canada Cup team and then went back to left side in club. We were 17u club provincial champions with Sam playing on a sprained ankle in Libero (she was still probably the top libero at provincial 17u, despite not playing that position all season). She plays libero, left side and right side. Whatever we need her to do, she is all in. Any team would be lucky to have her, she has all the physical and mental tools for the next level.

I’ve had the pleasure of coaching Sam for the last 2 seasons both at the school and club level. She is one of the most hard working committed players I’ve ever had the pleasure coaching. Sam will do whatever it takes to make her team and more importantly teammates better. Her ability to jump in and play libero during club provincials last year was the main catalyst behind capturing the Timberwolves their first ever club championship.
